If you love the look of serene gardens filled with bamboo groves or waving grasses, you won’t want to miss GRASSES AND BAMBOOS by Ian Cooke. Of course, grasses and bamboos also are wonderful accent plants in the garden, so gardeners who prefer vibrant and colorful gardens may also want to take a close look at this book.
The book is well organized and easy to use, with sections on grass types, troubleshooting, bamboo types, propagating grasses and bamboos and a gallery of grasses and bamboos. If you are unsure how to use grasses or bamboos in a garden, there are planting plans for several gardens. The lovely photos throughout the book provide additional inspiration for using these plants in the garden.
For someone who wants to learn the basics of gardening with grasses, GRASSES AND BAMBOOS is sure to please. However, if you are already a fan of these plants, you may find that the book is a bit too basic. I give this book four 1/2 out of five sunflowers for its lovely photos and detailed planting plans.
