Ask the Gardener – Gerbera Daisies
Charity asks:
Hi! I am trying to take care of some gerbra daisys and i was
told that they love bright light…so i took mine outside and within minutes
literally they were wilted and dead looking…Will they stay wilted and die or
will they firm back up…I so hope i didnt kill them they are my Favorite
Charity,
If you had them in a fairly shady spot inside and moved them right out into full sun, they’re suffering from a bit of shock from the abrupt change.
Gerbera daisies have wide leaves and the sun makes the water evaporate pretty quickly. As long as they are watered regularly and don’t get bone dry, they should come back. I’ve had all but one or two leaves die during the winter on some I overwinter inside and they come back strong and healthy a month or so later.
